SUPERCAR & TV COMIC

My comment to Woodsy in my earlier  Supercar Year 7 flyer had me mention TV Comic and Supercar's association with it.

Sadly, I don't have many TV Comics from that period, but I thought it would be nice to remind myself of those early editions.

TV Comic cover: 15th December 1962

TV Comic cover: 14th March 1964

Supercar  started TV Comic issue dated 18th March, 1961, beginning with a black & white with red tone strip drawn by Harold Tamblyn-Watts. This had some really nice clean and realistic artwork.

From 1st April 1961

Bill Mevin took over in issue dated 9th September 1961 when Supercar moved to full colour. I know a lot of people are fond of Bill Mevin's work, but I'm not so keen. He drew them as the puppets appeared, far too cartoonish for me.

From 21st October 1961

From 15th December 1962

From 14th March 1964

Supercar continued being illustrated by Mevin until 26th September 1964. After that the strip was replaced with Roberta Leigh's  'Space Patrol'.
