ROMPER ROOM MYSTERY

Recent blog chat has been about the TV show Romper Room. I don't recall that on telly at all in the UK but I did have a toy Romper Room Car Ferry Play Set in the mid 1990's found at a boot sale.

It was a huge boxed play set with a plastic ferry that picked up cars and took them across a river. This was the logo on the box. Is it the TV show logo too?

I don't have any pictures of that car ferry set but would love to see it again. Anyone know what I'm on about?

  1. That is indeed the logo for the TV show,Definitely aired in the U.S. but I'm not sure where else. There were many toys that bore the logo but I've not seen the one you describe. The toys ranged from the quiet, mind developing type to the more active body developing type .My favorite was the "Romper Stompers" which were nothing more than two inverted plastic buckets that you held on your feet with plastic strings. They made you taller and made a bit of racket on hard floors!Another logo incorporated a Cartoon Bumble Bee character called the "Do-Bee".

    1. Cheers Brian, I feel a bit more confident now that I wasn't dreaming that I had a Romper Room ferry set. I've had a look at some of the toys you describe online. The brand reminds me of a UK brand called Early Learning Centre, lots of safe plastic toys for little tots. As for Romper Stompers, our daughter had some when she was a kid! I didn't know that's what they were called but then again I bet quite a few companies made them. Great fun!
