I had that pen, Kid. I can still remember seeing it in my local post office window . It had a cut out Uncle badge printed on the backing card - great stuff!
Plastic badges were also available to buy separately. I'm not 100% sure, but I think my Man From U.N.C.L.E. suitcase (the cheaper cardboard one) perhaps also had a badge.
I've got one of those separate badges somewhere, but I got it much later, maybe in the eighties, so I figure they must have been released. I'm sure you're right about the badge finding it's way into the suitcase too.
My brother had another type of U.N.C.L.E. pen, one which wrote in invisible ink. Let's hope they re-release that one too.
