I found this ad in a late sixties Batman comic featuring Ideal's toys of Captain Action, Action Boy and their arch-nemesis Dr Evil. I wonder if Austin Powers knows about this one?
I discovered Captain Action and his nemesis, the alien Dr, Evil, about 20 years ago but as an adult. I didn't know anything about the line as kid and no-one I knew had any in the Sixties here in the UK. It may not have been in the UK. About 15 years ago I bought the re-issue of their lovely Green Hornet costume for the Captain. I then tried to collect the original Green Hornet Costome from the 60's. I got quite far but then stalled for a few years and sold what I had. Shame. Their are some amazing costumes by ideal for the Captain including Batman and Aquaman with gorgeous small parts. There's even a connection to Ideal's Knights of Darkness, S.T.A.R Team and Star Wars! If I was American I could see myself collecting it.
Nice reminiscences Woodsy. Maybe its time to pick up the thread on Capt. Action. Personally, I seem to recall getting a second hand one by swapping with someone, although its so long ago it could have been a knock off type toy.
