Ah Master Mind, my favourite game of deduction! Never knew they made a Disney version as well. Got an electronic version too, never tried it however. The classic is the the best!
Ah yes, Mastermind. I recall the box art - a bearded man holding a brandy [?] and a pretty girl stood behind him. Completely different to the TV show we had in the UK! I remember a pocket version of the game too. Wonder what happened to the makers of the game Invictus?
The Sorcerers Cave by the way was an early Dungeons and Dragons-like board game from 1978. The other one by the same designer, Terence Peter Donnelly, was Mystic Wood, which I think has come through Moonbase as well at some point. You can read Mr. Donnelly's fascinating account of how he designed these two iconic RPG games on his website. It reads like an early history of RPG, TSR etc. Here: http://skookumpete.com/CaveAndWood.htm
I recall that we once featured the makings of an online version of Mystic Wood on the blog - about five years ago. It never got off the ground as far as I know. http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/if-you-go-down-to-woods-today.html
Wonder if anyone specifically collects old RPG board games like these?

I used to have sorcerers cave, but you need a huge floor area to play it. Still got Mystic Wood, still play it, it's good.
ReplyDeleteThese games are more popular than I thought Kev. At the dawn of RPG by the looks of it. So who do you play Mystic Wood with?
ReplyDeleteMy wife, it was her who bought both games.
