DAMNATION ALLEY LANDMASTER

I recently saw the movie Damnation Alley on the UK Horror Channel. Despite the somewhat limp acting and disjointed plat I did like the main vehicle, a sort of triple -wheeled ATV called the Landmaster.

Its hard to believe that in 1977 20th Century Fox were banking on this bringing home the bacon and not Star Wars! It goes to show that you should never mess with a Wookie!

The Landmaster itself reminds me of the RT101 used in the recent PROMETHEUS

and even more of the toy ATV I  featured 5 years ago on the blog, the STAR FORCE GROUND SUPPORT Vehicle from 1996.

Can you think of any more toys like the Damnation Alley Landmaster? Did the film spawn any merchandise?

  2. Other than a novelization of the movie, I don't think there was any official merchandise. The movie is a so-so version of the novel which is a so-so version of the original short story.

  3. the vehicle was an adaptation (new hull etc.) of a U.S. Army vehicle, I think just a prototype.
