NEW THUNDERBIRD 5 COMPONENTS

This is rather interesting.  I wonder when we'll get to cutaway views?

  2. Must be fun trying to board anything in the rotating gravity ring. I see major design flaws with it. Stuff from the space elevator is going to have to be moved into the ring then one presumes into command module as needed. I am presuming the ring is mainly storage and quarters, maybe science bays or things that do require gravity. But that then leads us to a major flaw. The docking port for TB3 is in the rotating ring. That's going to cause problems when TB3 moves and runs into the space elevator module that is definitely static and the "hub" the ring rotates through. They are going to be stopping the ring each time TB3 docks or they need to enter/leave the ring or load/unload the elevator which is going to play havoc on anything that requires the gravity... All I can think is they decided a static station is uninteresting so add the rotating ring to spruce it up without any thought into functionality.

But hey, at least now the words International Rescue are visible from the ground and not just from inside the command module, blocking the glorious view of space (that was always a peeve of mine)

  3. Ha, ha! Nice one Bill. I hope the Thunderbird 5 space elevator (what ever it turns out to be) has no strings attached!

  4. Good observations Lance, it does seem a odd place to dock TB3, and like you say it would keep jamming against the space elevator. Hopefully all will be revealed next month .
