  1. Just heard this on the News. So so sad. I am truly upset. Leonard Nimoy in his role as Spock was for me one of the most important characters on TV throughout my childhood in the Sixties. I watched Star Trek with my Mum and Dad! Spock's banter with Kirk and Bones was always a real joy and his Vulcan mind- meld and shoulder-death grip were playground favourites. Leonard's passing is another light gone out from my childhood sadly. I hope he enjoyed his life and finds peace amongst the stars.

  6. I'm amazed that there's not more comments regarding the passing of actor Leonard Nimoy. Maybe I just haven't given it enough time . Although I'm not a big fan of Star Trek I do acknowledge it's legacy . The first Fanderson convention I went to in 1981 wouldn't have probably taken place if it were not for American fans of Star Trek who decided to create their own conventions which inspired other fan networks around the world. Maybe folk prefer social media which is full of tributes to Mr Nimoy and his legacy.

RIP Leonard, thanks for all the great fun, both as a kid and as an adult! :-)
    Beam him up, Scotty!

  8. It's hard to overestimate the impact Leonard Nimoy had on kids in the Sixties across the world. Spock was Geek Zero, the perfect nerdy foil to Kirk's tough-guy machismo. Along with Thunderbirds, Star Trek was the perfect kids TV programme and the crew's noble adventure helped make us the space nuts we are today. Perhaps even more than NASA, Star Trek revealed an increasingly amazing universe to us week after week. Even my Parents were hooked.. I would have given anything to have joined Spock, Kirk and Uhuru on the bridge of the Enterprise. Its great that a new younger generation are discovering the Enterprise and like Thunderbirds' spring clean, confirm that great ideas on kids' TV do stand the test of time. And thanks to Leonard Nimoy, its OK to be nerdy.
