TERRY BECKER 1921 -2014

There's been quite a few sad passings over the last few weeks. Another is the recent death ,at the age of 93 of Solomon 'Terry' Becker, best known to Irwin Allen fans as Chief Petty Officer Francis Ethylbert Sharkey in the Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea TV series.

Terry joined the cast of Voyage following the premature death of Henry Kulky, who played Chief 'Curly' Jones in the first season.Terry hit it off with Voyage star, Richard Basehart when they did some impromtu filming together for some filler material was needed to complete an episode.

A few years ago I attended a UK Cult TV convention, and Terry was announced as one of the guests, along with Allan Hunt, who played Seaview crewman, Stuart Riley (he's the actor in the middle of this Actor's Database photo, above) Allan did make it to the Con, but sadly at the last minute, Terry couldn't attend  so  I, unfortunately  lost my chance of meeting the Chief.
