MORE THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!

Now we've all seen some of the new Thunderbirds are Go 2015 Vivid Imaginations merchandise  courtesy of  photos from the Daily Mirror, The Sun and the Radio Times, and other invited individuals who attended the trade fairs, lucky beggars! Social media is awash with these photos and lots of opinions, Some from people 'in the know' all sworn to secrecy, but quite naturally unable to resist the temptation to tease fellow fans with what they know. (or think they know, as there does seem to be a lot of conflicting information!)

This new interactive Tracy Island will set you back just under £80 and the large Thunderbird 2  complete with Thunderbird 4 is priced at a tad under forty quid. It does look good and will be mine!

The smaller range: Thunderbirds 1 & 3 are £9.99 each, and my personal favourite, Thunderbird 2  with Thunderbird 4 will retail at £16.99. Unsurprisingly, no Thunderbird 5 is mentioned so far.

Then, there's the figures as well, which so far  looks like just the five Tracy Brothers. but I imagine that will change, after all, it is confirmed that Lady P and Parker will feature in the series, unlike some other major (and I mean major!) characters who appear to be absent from the roll call.

One vehicle that hasn't been mentioned is FAB 1, as much a part of the Thunderbirds fleet as 1,2,3,4 and 5. I'm sure it will, but whether it'll be a Rolls Royce or not, your guess is as good as mine.

I guess for us ordinary folk who haven't been privy to any preview episodes or trade info will just have to wait a little longer and enjoy the proper launch.

  1. I'm out of touch, as I don't have children, but those prices seem a bit steep for toys- particularly those with a TV-related theme, which I suspect will be replaced by the toys from the next craze in the following year? Or are they aimed at adult collectors?
I was quite impressed with the machinery, but the one shot I have seen of the characters did not impress me.

  2. Andy, It's been a few years since I bought toys for my son but I reckon the prices for these toys are fairly comparable. When Tracy Island came out in the early nineties it was around £30 or £40 if I remember right. I wanted to get my son one and thankfully a good friend who was in London at the time managed to get me one from Forbidden Planet as they were like gold dust.
I think the toys are primarily aimed at children but the people behind the merchandise, Vivid will know that there'll be quite a number of adult collectors.out there.
Personally, I don't bother that much with the action figures, like you I prefer the machinery, but the kids are sure to like them.

  5. Scoop, if you want to go to ExCel just email them in the autumn, tell them you represent a toy blog and they'll send you a package with pass, it's a trade-show, the organisers want as many feet through the door as possible to justify the stand-rates to the businesses! I used to go every year, but there's not enough there on the figure front to keep me applying. One year they sent me the wrong envelope and I spent several days pretending to be someone else from another industry! I hope the other chap did likewise...H
