More sad news in that the designer of the 'B9' robot and the spaceship, The Jupiter 2 from TV series Lost in Space, Robert Kinoshita has passed away aged 100.
While some of you might not recognize his name you'll almost certainly remember another of the designs he had a hand in, the iconic robot, Robby from the classic sci-fi film Forbidden Planet.
Another of his robot designs was Tobor the Great.
In tribute to the late Mr Kinoshita here's some photos of my B9 aka YM3 or simply 'Robot', I took a while back.

100 is good - 200 would've been better. His Robby and B9 designs are classics that will never be forgotten. Neither will he.

ReplyDeleteSad news indeed. Great shots of your toy scoop. Is that the Trendmasters one released for the modern film? I recall seeing a whole stack of them at a store in Whitby selling at £2 each! I should have bought at least one! doh! Your shot of the bot staring at the garden lamp is a classic! The lamp looks like a slimmed down bot with an inflated dome! ha ha
