DINKY'S SAM'S CAR - A WINNING SHADE?

In my previous couple of posts I touched on the subject of colour variations on the Corgi Thrush-Buster (White and Blue) and Steed's Bentley(Red and Green). It got me thinking as to which of the  TV tie-in die-casts has the most choice in totally different colour variations.

There's a few contenders, some that just reverse their colours, or just introduce a metallic variation.  The Dinky Eagle is definitely in the frame, but the first one that sprung to my mind was Dinky's Sam's Car which can be regularly found in three quite distinctly different colours - metallic red, chrome and powder blue. I'm told  Dinky also did a limited number in a flat red, a metallic gold and, possibly a white!

Even with those three well known colours, Sam's Car really is a variation on a theme.

The metallic red fits in with the carded display illustration.

The powder blue version is a good contrast to the illustration, and is reputed to be the rarer of the three popular colours.

Although it is a long way off the proper colour of the TV counterpart, I do think that the Chrome variant is as close as we're going to get without going down the code 3 route.

So folks, am I in the ball park with this choice, or is there another Dinky or Corgi TV tie-in die-cast   that can claim more official paint jobs?
