What did you get in your Xmas stockings readers? My parents would put small stuff in mine hung at the end of my bed: a wall walker maybe, a pot of slime perhaps, a pair of clackers and always a tangerine at the toe end!
Is it a fading tradition or is it still going?
I used to keep it going for the kids and my wife, but it became so difficult to find presents, let alone, things small enough to fit in a sock, that I gave up. Whys there a tangerine and a 5p in here dad? On xmas morning, it took too long to explain, but im tempted to bring it back this year, as the number of discount stores selling little odds and sods has exploded!
ReplyDeleteGreat that your'e thinking of trying again Bill. Maybe one day robots will be hanging up our Xmas stockings waiting for a Santa Droid to clamber down the chimney! The longer us humans maintain our own traditions the better!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid I'd get a bunch of things: fruits, candy, perhaps an envelope with a few dollars and a small present. I still hang the stockings up every year and now with the baby granddaughter we'll have a fourth one!
