JOSEPH SVEC'S WAR OF THE WORLDS DIORAMA

Greetings Moon Base readers

I have again updated my H.G.Wells, War of the Worlds diorama, this time for display in a local bookstore window in Jackson California.

It is now 8' x 2.5' and has approximately 45 hand painted 1890's British infantry figures plus several civilians. I also added the scene when the Martian cylinder has opened up and the humans encounter the Martians for the first time.

The Martian figures that are coming out of the cylinder and the downed tripod are based on a 1890's book illustration. I also added more tentacles to the martian tripods, and one of them has grabbed an unfortunate soldier.

This version also features more building debris and Martian red weed. I will send additional photos in a second email

What do you think of this version?

Thank you,
Joseph Svec

  5. This is awesome on so many levels. It's a depiction of the events as they would have appeared when the book first hit the shelves in 1898, the model making is great, and the nostalgia-meter is pegged! Fun, fun, fun
