Wow, cool blog! I can see I'll be spending some time here in the future, even though I didn't see any toys from my youth that I recognized at a quick glance. Of course, I'd be pleased to have you use my image of Lunar Missile Warhead Release on your blog [above]. 

The toy Booster Rocket you're talking about  reminds me of a plastic model kit I built as a kid. It was a Revell kit called XSL-01 [below]. It had detachable boosters and an orbital space plane quite similar.
