FINALE 2: THE COAST GUARD VEHICLE - A TRUE BLOG LEGEND

I got an email from Bill asking me to check out an interesting item on eBay – a Coast Guard vehicle, not unlike the boat from the Gerry Anderson pilot ‘The Investigator’.

It had six days to go and was up for just over a tenner. I asked Bill if he was going for it. He said not this time, so a put a bid on it.

The days passed and on the last day, Bill emailed me again to see how it was doing. I checked, there were no other bidders, and as it ended there weren’t even any sneaky e-snipers hoping to catch me out at the end.  I won it and paid for it immediately.

Quite a while passed, but as the toy was coming from Cyprus it didn’t concern me at that point that I hadn’t received it.

Then, out of the blue I get an email from the seller. Apparently, they’d been approached by some low life toe rag who’d got to the auction too late and were hoping to still get it by bribing the seller, rather than send it to the winner, me!

I was quite resolute. It annoyed me the way this snake in the grass had tried to go behind my back just to get what they wanted. Thankfully the seller was an honourable person, more interested in reputation than money and proceeded to send the toy on.

When I received this little treasure it was a little distressed but still quite a find, thanks to Bill. Although there were a few missing parts, its overall appearance was pretty good.

The next step in events was a visit by Bill and me to Woodsy’s place. Woodsy had asked me to bring the toy along so he could examine it more closely. However, his reason had an ulterior motive. It seemed Woodsy had  managed to find yet another example of the Coast Guard car,and wanted to surprise me.

Now, both  our examples had missing parts – mine was missing a fin and the rear turbo, Woodsy’s was missing both fins and one of the front torpedoes’. Enter blog friend and model making maestro, Kevin D.

For my birthday, through Woodsy’s suggestion Kevin had made me a new fin and a new turbo unit, both remarkably accurate. I was knocked out.  Not only that, he’d even made me some new stickers!

Now, thanks to the combined efforts of Bill, Woodsy and Kevin my Coast Guard is back to it’s former glory.  And with it’s brother in Yorkshire these two little beauties have certainly turned out to be  true blog legends.
