CORGI CAPTAIN SCARLET REPEAT

Some more revisited snaps from my photo archive - this time some pictures of the Corgi  die-cast classic Captain Scarlet vehicles which came out to complement the New Captain Scarlet series vehicles in 2006

This set seems to have been largely overlooked by some of you so for those who don't recall them here they are.

As can be seen in this first photo they comprise of  a Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle, an Angel Interceptor and a Spectrum Saloon Car. The Angel Interceptor is sadly not in scale with the other two vehicles and has a fixed forward landing leg, but it's still a nice addition to the set.

The detail is excellent on all the models, although the S.S.C. is conspicuously missing it's aerial . It does, however have opening doors and a figure of Captain Scarlet at the wheel. which wasn't a feature on the Dinky version.

The S.P.V. which is the jewel in Corgi's classic Scarlet crown, is a smashing representation of it's TV counterpart. As with the S.S.C. most collectors will compare it to the classic Dinky version. While the Dinky one will always be the most desirable, the Corgi example does look better.

Although, it's fair to say, like the earlier die cast toy release by Vivid it does take its cue from Dinky with the forward missile launcher and the side opening hatch. But its the detail that Corgi have applied that gives it the edge for me.

It's a pity Corgi didn't release a few more Captain Scarlet vehicles. A nicely detailed version of the Maximum Security Vehicle obviously springs to mind, painted in the right colour this time.
