EAGLEMOSS SPECIAL: BAT-TANK FROM DARK KNIGHT RETURNS

This is the Batmobile as seen in the four part graphic novel, Batman:The Dark Knight Returns.

Not your usual Batmobile look. No bat logos on the wheels or a distinctive bat-faced battering ram at the front, and not a trace of  bat - fins unless you count those pointy metal shields (Bat ears!?) at each side of the machine guns.

In fact it's a tank!

The perfect vehicle for tackling mutant gangs in a dystopian future Gotham City.

This Armadillo- like Batmobile first appeared in the second issue of the mini-series titled, The Dark Knight Triumphant. This excellent graphic mini-series , written and drawn by Frank Miller appeared in 1986 and was game changer for the future depiction of Batman in comics and films.

The Eaglemoss model is a great addition to the Automobilia collection and because of its larger size I thought I'd take it out of it's display stand and take a few snaps on a larger diorama.

Lots of detail, and complete with rubber tracks, although like all the other Automobilia models, sadly no moving parts.

The 3 D Lenticular backdrop shows a scene from the graphic novel. The Mutant leader addressing his  Rodent Gang set against the Gotham City skyline.

Eaglemoss have only offered this particular model  as a special  mail order deal so it's not one you'll likely see in the shops, but if you like a more unusual addition to your collection  the Bat-Tank has got to be it.

  3. The classic tv series Batboat is out next week. That's one I must have. Most of the shops round here longer sell the magazine though so I may have to ask my newsagent to order one. :(
