Just this week I found a real blast from my past in the form of this lovely Tudor Rose Nike Missile Base. I'd had one as a boy back in the sixties, but it had gradually fallen apart. Oddly enough, the rocket survived and I squirrelled it away, just in case. Luckily, the base appeared on ebay, minus missile and box and I was able to reunite them. A nice, basic toy, the Nike has a powerful spring and the rocket a steel stud in the base, allowing caps to be inserted for an explosive launch. I'd missed out on a boxed version some while ago, but kept the photo.
Very cool Bill. It's good to see you were able to re-generate the whole assembly.
ReplyDeleteGreat reunion Bill. Just shows how storing away old chestnuts sometimes pays off. Tudor Rose passed me by as a kid i think but I can now appreciate what beautiful toys they made. Along with your TR tank, you've got the makings of a Tudor Rose collection.
