ROBOT B-9

The Trendmasters Robot B-9 from the classic TV series ’Lost In Space’.

This robust toy looks fairly accurate to me and it does have one or two features.

Press the buttons on it‘s chest and it exclaims, “Danger Will Robinson!” , or, “My sensors  indicate an intruder is present!” .

Lights flash in it’s chest and it’s body twists and it’s head  moves up and down.

Press a button on it’s back and it’s arms spring out. It’s ‘hands’ can grip.

It has a fold down door covering it’s soil sampler.

It also has a pull back and go feature.

Finally, it can be set in  sentry  mode which means set the green side button to ‘A’ , shine a light at a sensor in it’s chest and it lights up shouting “Danger Will Robinson!”.

Marvellous!

  1. Beautiful toy Scoop. They were selling these off in a shop in Whitby when I was last there. Wish I'd have got one now! Wonder if its bigger than the Remco 60's original?

  2. B9 was designed by Robert Kinoshita who had also designed Tobor and Robby the Robot previously. He's responsible for all the most famous robots in the world then, apart from Maria in Metropolis and the Daleks [are they robots?]. Do you think Robert the Robot from Fireball XL5 is a similar bot to B9?

  3. The B-9, Class M-3 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot is built using advanced technology for use in the Jupiter 2, and capable of repeatedly saying "Danger Will Robinson!" - Robert the Robot is built from a some spare parts found in Prof. Matthew Matic's workshop for use in Fireball XL5 ,and capable of repeatedly saying, "On or way 'ome!" - , so, yes I'd say they exactly the same!!

  4. The series left much to be desired but the set design and props were phenomenal. I don't have any large scale robots though - yet :-) Great shots Scoop of a great toy.

  5. Thanks Ed. I agree with your opinion on the show - the first season was pure space adventure but the last season was just daft - remember the episode featuring a bloke dressed up as a carrot !! - oh, the pain!
