The transformer revolution of the 80's meant that robot toys arrived by the cartload in shops every week. Most of the major toymakers brought out some kind of transforming or robot toy, 90% of which were quickly forgotten. Bandai Robo Machines were a nice early range of 3" high robots and the range expanded to include the weird Rock Lords and briefly, the Puzzler Fiends. These were a separately available series of individual models that joined together to make a larger monster robot. The main Robo Machines series also included the Casmodon, which appeared in a larger 7" model too. Cool!
These were known in the US as the Go-Bots set of Monsterous combiners.
