WOULD TV21 BE READ BY TODAY'S KIDS?

Whenever I'm in a newsagents I look over the comics for kids just to see what they're reading now. There's tons of Marvel Super Heroes, Dr. Who, Football and lots of girl stuff, all with free gifts.

All in all it's much like when we were kids back in the Sixties: super heroes, Dr. Who and football were in comics back then too.

So do you think a comic like TV21 or Eagle would be read by kids nowadays in your neck of the woods?

  1. Unless it was backed up by tv, film and god knows what else, i think it would be marginalised. Kids expect all singing all dancing interactivity.

  2. To me, TV21 looks far less dated than Eagle does, so I think it holds up pretty well. However, unless it was regarded as the latest 'in-thing' by the majority of kids and, as BB says above, backed up by TV, etc., it would probably go un-noticed.

The Thunderbirds comic of the early '90s sold quite well (and that was mainly TV21 reprints), but Thunderbirds was big on telly again at that time.

I recently posted the complete issue of TV21 #1 on my blog, if anyone wants to remind themselves of what it was like. (http://kidr77.blogspot.com) Hope you don't mind the plug.
