BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY'S MYSTERY SPACESHIP

Found this in my attic the other day. It's my Mate Marks. Somewhere is the window box too. The main orange rocket packs a helluva punch - a rocket punch, as I found out aiming it at my hand! For the life of me I can't remember the name of this die-cast toy. Is it Zylon Marauder? Its probably written on it's undercarriage but I shoved it back in the attic now! Der! What's the story behind this toy? Anyone know?

  1. Woodsy you've got there a Dinky 362 Trident Starfighter, black version, from the late 70's. Looks better in its original diorama box!

  2. Hey thanks Arto. Nice one. I'll have to find the box! Have Dinky made up the design and where there any more im the range?

  3. There was a blue Dinky Zygon Patroller - looked like a Tornado jet fighter with large rockets/boosters instead of wings and it had the UFO Interceptor legs too! Dinky liked to recycle parts ;D . Marks and Spencer did a version in red for Christmas. I didn't realise until recently that Airfix owned Dinky at the time so that explains the Aifix Starcruiser Interceptor/Dinky Space Battlecruiser/ Dinky Zygon Marauder design cross-fertilisation. Had some fun battles between Dinky spaceships and Matchbox's Adventure 2000 vehicles.

  4. Seems the more common model is in black enamel, a less seen variant is gone in gold enamel.
