SPACE CAR EXPLORING

There have been lots of variants of what I call the SPACE CAR on Ebay round the world of late. The Space Car range comprises of four plastic spaceships, one of which, the red Space Car itself, appears in the Imperial Apollo Moon Exploring carded and box sets pictured below and is the link between the SpaceX range and the four 'Space Cars'. The four were sold by nearly every toy company going and here's a gallery of some |I've seen this year.

and my personal favourite from this lot, the silver Space Car from the "Mini Space Toy Series" in a superb box. Gorgeous! Any more out there? Contributions welcomed.

  1. I just bought 8 of the Imperial Toy Apollo Moon Exploring series (four still in the box waiting to be opened). Gotta keep my eyes open for the rest of the series. Really neat stuff

  2. Don't forget the versions of all of them in silver-grey with the Blake's 7 logo on them.

  3. Only ever seen the Blakes 7 toys in a catalogue which we posted back in 2009 http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2009/04/blue-box-blakes-7-federation-spaceships.html

They must be rare. I've never seen them online or anywhere. Have you got some Kevin?

  4. Nice purchase Ed! I've only got one or two and the boxed set. Which ones have you got and got missing? there's a nice colour article about them in an old US magazine called Playset. Four years ago we had a blog offer with them but it's no longer valid. At least you get the issue number if you ever want to track it down http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2009/02/blog-exclusive-6-playset-magazine-at.html

  5. I am familiar with that article on Blakes 7 merchandise, I wrote it! The stuff in it was all stuff in my own collection, so I did have the Blakes 7 spaceships, I have since sold the collection (along with a load of original costumes from the series!).

  6. Wow! Sorry Kev, I didn't know! Ha ha! Small world! What was the article in? Do you still have any photos of your old collection? I remember seeing a picture of a rare ball-shooting pistol. Did you have one of them? there's abook out on Blake's 7 Merchandise I've noticed on the net.

  7. The article was in the DWB compendium (a compilation of stuff from the magazine Dream Watch Bulletin). I did have that gun, incredibly rare, again, the photo was of mine. I don't have the pictures anymore, although I do have the publication. I've got that new Blake's 7 merchandise guide, It's excellent, I'm mentioned in it a couple of times!

  8. Woodsy, a little correction on my part. All the sets I bought are carded - four were still in the mailing box which had remained unopened. Also, I guess I'm not very good at counting - I bought seven sets and two were duplicates HOWEVER the two duplicates (set #304I w/P3 Helicopter) had two different astronaut figures and one helicopter was a light purple, while the other one was a darker purple. The other sets are: 304B, 304D, 304H, 304J, & 304K. Also, I am a charter subscriber to 'Playset' magazine and have all the issues (BTW, Issue #64 has many of my photos of the Marx Super Circus playset - including the centerspread photo) but it has been a while since I checked out the space issues so it looks like I'll have to re-visit it.
