Classic Space Kits

You’ll have all seen in the film I did in the Science Museum that they had a cracking display of beautifully assembled plastic model kits.

As the film’s picture quality leaves a little to be desired I did a few separate photos of some these classic kits which I thought you‘d all enjoy.

Needless to say I’d love a few of these in my collection.

  1. Some cool Lindberg kits there, I had the reissue Moonship at the bottom and the Von Braun Passenger Rocket above in a reissue from Glencoe. You cant beat a good rocket kit.

  2. Wotan have you seen the Disney documentaries that many of these models originated in? If you haven't, they're certainly worth seeking out.

  4. Some excellent kits from a bygone era. It's been many years since I saw the Disney films but coicidentally I was trying to figure out their title just the other week.

  5. The titles are Man in Space, Man and the Moon, and finally Mars and Beyond. I'm particularly fond the man and the Moon since that one introduced the space station (top photo) and the Lunar Retriever rocket (second photo).

  6. Will - after reading the post I went to Y'allTube on a whim and guess what? All three films were there. The poster split each one up into 3-6 segments but I can splice them together using Microsoft Live Movie Maker. Man what a blst to see them again. I had thought that Disney stuff would have been copyrighted such that no one could post them
