Back in the 1990's I used to plunder discount shops for space toys. One set was a carded playset containing small cute white spacemen like 'little people', a spaceship and parts of a space city I think. Long gone I just can't recall the name of the set or find an image. I saw this boxed set on Ebay this week and for a second thought Star Commanders II may have been it but the astronauts aren't cute enough I don't think! Anyone else got any cheap carded space sets from the 1990's?
Great stuff! Love what appears to be the Alien/Nostromo escape shuttle retaining the name 'Alien Ship'.
ReplyDeleteThat escape shuttle is still being produced in other sets to this day! Wouldn't mind having that.
ReplyDeleteI bought a boxed set off eBay a few weeks back, made by a company called Blue Box, Hidden adventures space zone. I purchased it because the figures and vehicles are in the 1 inch range. My intent is to use the building to display various Spacex, Golden Astronaut, etc. vehicles and astronauts on.

Nice find there Chi-Chi! The Hidden Adventures series by Blue Box (early 1990's during the Mighty Max hey days?) was excellent; with the Space Zone sets as my favourite among them as well. They only seemed to be stocked by smaller toy departments, like those encounterd at Pharmacy or grocery stores. Those sci-fi domed buildings will provide an ideal base for your Golden Astronaut and Spacex toys.
