Are UFO'real ?

"What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? What can it mean? What is the truth?”

Sir Winston Churchill - July 1952

The National Archives in Kew have just released the latest batch of UFO sighting reports for public viewing. De-classified information including reports, descriptions, witness testimonies and photographs are now available for public viewing courtesy of the Freeedom of Information act. Have a look, see if you are a believer or a skeptic! Meanwhile... our man in Canada sends this report of a recent sighting:

Here is a lovely toy that many here might enjoy; found by chance under 'space ship' in the 'toys & hobbies' listings on eBay. The un-dated packaging has a late 1980's/early 90's look to it and the 'KB Toys' (wonderful but defunct US toy retailer) price tag indicates $2.49; so this cost about twice retail plus shipping to obtain from eBay.
This 'Mysteries of the Universe - UFO' has no toy-company affiliation and is listed only as: Distributed by Midwestern Home Products Inc. Made in CHINA. The 4 Alien grey figures are under 1 inch tall PVC, while the rest of the playset is hard plastic of unexpectedly good quality; reminding me of the 1990's Mighty Max playsets by Bluebird Toys. Scale is a good match to the Mighty Max line, as is the design, sculpting and play value (pleasantly surprising for what appears to be a cheaper "me too" cash-in on the micro-playsets that were so popular at the time).
The package card-back is interesting; showing 2 other playsets and some speculative UFO 'education'. Personally I am glad to find the aliens responsible for the Easter Island statues; they have a sense of humor (and certainly a nicer saucer than those serious Pyramid builder types, or those Peruvian graffiti vandals).

  2. Great stuff Wote! Just the sort of cool carded space set I used to buy in discounts shops like Poundstretcher, Poundland and Poundworld. I remember one set with a white spaceship and small white suited spacemen like Playmobil. Has everyone got discount shops and stores near them in every country?
