What's Your Latest Vintage Toy Purchase?

What's your latest purchase on the collecting front? Mine's a couple of small plastic BRM JR21 racing cars, which I bagged on Ebay [thanks to Wote for the heads-up]. Tell us what yours is?

  1. The Airfix reissue of the Angel Interceptor from Captain Scarlet. If we're talking old stuff though, it must be the JR21 Mole the (highly inaccurate) replica that came with some of the friction drive Thunderbird 2's.

  2. Pretty OT for this blog, but since you ask: a clockwork Midland Railway 2-4-0 tank loco with three coaches, station minus one ramp, island platform, one junction signal and some track including a pair of points. Bing Miniature Table Railway ca. 1923-24 in 00 scale, all in the most charming litho tinplate. And -cute- as anything!

  3. A vintage Corgi Juniors Fred Flintstones Flyer in decent shape but w/o packaging. Vintage Corgi can be outrageously priced but this one was decent at GBP 4.99.

To Anonymous: Sounds like a great acquisition. One of these years I have to find an engine for my O-Gauge Hornby goods cars

    1. I'm indeed pleased as punch with the little train, Ed, third I got so far. Cost a pretty penny, but if I had to buy train, platform and points separately Id've had to fork over more, so I'm still sure I had a decent deal. What have you got in the way of Hornby goods stock? My 0-gauge is half Hornby, and I have the Hornby bible so I could help identify which loco would be most suitable? paul.vreede(at)gmail.com will find me.

    2. Paul, I'll have to get back with you as it is now 6:26AM and am getting ready for work. In regards to trains, I'm mostly a Marx person (with some Lionel and K-Line). I bought the Hornby cars (wagons) to go with a couple of stations I had in my tin-litho building collection. Many Thanx! Cheers - Ed

  4. Atlantic Egyptians 'Pharoah's Palace' HO set, still sealed in plastic...1979? More playset than model; been watching for this set to appear on eBay for a long time. The pillard structure is large enough to sub-in the 1:43 figures of my preference; so if anyone is interested in a large grouping of roughly 1:72 scale ancient Egyptians (still on sprues, soft tan plastic), let me know.
