Yep, I remember it, ran for 2 seasons, featured a group of people on a Generation ship who had no knowledge of where they were, what their mission was and who had sent them! I quite liked it at the time, there were novelisations too.
That's not how I recall it. I don't really think it was like Project SWORD either. Four people, two men and two women, have been raised from babies by Angel 1 and 2 the computers of the massive starship ‘Challenger' after a meteor strike wipes out the crew. 'Challenger' returns to the solar system only to find Earth itself is missing, and only the Moon orbits the Sun in its place. The main thrust of the first series was the search for Earth, ending with the four people realising the Angels have deceived them for their own purposes and abandoning the ship for a primitive but Earth-like world called Eden. In 'Earthsearch II', the Angels return and trick them into returning so Earth can be found. James Follett novelised both series (I have the books somewhere, and did have all the radio broadcasts) as well as writing a prequel called 'Mindwarp'.
Haven't heard this, but do listen to various SF series and short stories on 4extra (via BBC iplayer)-well worth checking out.
