Veteran Star Wars designer Ralph MacQuarrie has died aged 82. The US artist is known to countless Star Wars fans as the creator of many of the iconic characters like Darth Vader. The artist behind the most important universe other than our own, you can leave a tribute to him on his own website. God bless Ralph, you gave us all the force.
I first read this this evening at another blog I visit and my expression of shock was shared by my wife when I told her about hthe news. Sadly I suspect that the papers will give this scant space tomorrow but at least we can salute a real artist in every sense of the word here. I have read lots of tributes this evening and what I would say I think many who read this blog will understand... How many things do you have in your home that are either the work of Ralph McQuarrie, designed by him or influenced by him? in my case...too many to count. 'Remember...the Force will be with you....always'
