MOON SPECTRES

For ages I've been looking for similar artwork to that found on the box of the Argentinian CHIBI Explorador Planetario pictured above. As luck would have it I chanced upon this old Spanish space sticker album from 1961, Viajes Espaciales, on feebay piccied below. One of the illustrations on the cover looks remarkably like the ghostly white rocket and moonscape on the CHIBI box art. Anyone know the origin of the image? You can see the two compared close up below.

  1. The book in question is A Golden Stamp Book of Space Travel from 1959 by Otto Binder. Got this in Swedish version, and the title of this picture reads "Akrobatik på månen", that is, "Acrobatics on the Moon". These illustrations are credited to Mr. George Solonevich, who has illustrated also other books with futuristic themes in the series.
