  1. JJ Abrams' STAR TREK movie is on the box now! Spooky! The one where Kirk and Spock are cadets.

  3. Just finished watching it. I agree. It was excellent. I loved Spocks line to spock "My customary salutation would seem oddly self-serving so I will simply say, good luck!"

I found Leornard Nimoy's 'Shatner' sign-off at the end really moving 'These are the voyages of the ....". Probably never see Nimoy, Shatner and the original gang in a new film ever again though, which is sad.

  4. (nods) good quote, Woodsy.

For me, one of the more interesting aspects of Star Trek is the characters who (try to) control their emotions. So, although it was perhaps uncharacteristic of Spock's father, a part I particularly liked was the discussion between Spock and Sarek after the Vulcan Home world is destroyed. Spock admits to having difficulty controlling the his feelings at the death of his mother. Sarek replies with something like, "She would say, do not try". (It's a while since I watched the film, so please excuse me if the quote isn't accurate.)

  5. And excuse my terrible grammar and spelling in that last post. I am falling asleep at the computer. Someone carry me up to bed, please ... it's too far to walk ...

  6. Yes, as a fan of the original series, thought I would hate the new film, but actually enjoyed it.
