Mini Robot and Me

Wote's post about Robbie and YM3 has reminded me of my own personal favourite bot toy, the petit but wonderful Mini Robot of Japan. I had one of these clockwork fellows when I was a wee droidlet myself. Simple, wobbley and totally unforgettable, with his red body and blue arms. We parted company sometime in the early Seventies - I think the Jawas got him, but I was lucky enough to have a friend who wanted a good home for her own loose Mini Robot. So in the mid-1990's we were once more together. Friends Re-united! Anyone else have a Mini Robot?

  1. Yes! Stocking present in about '74, both my brother and I, different to your's, one blue and white, the other yellow? (and something), no arms, but spark behind coloured chest panel (like some of the bigger 'bots' but not opening), the foot-movement was the same as your's and the permanant winder had the more common little white button, not your butterfly. About three or four inches and a similar box! Ah...Memories!

'Franct'...the moment a frantic robot falls off the kitchen table and suffers terminal plastic failure...on boxing day!

  3. Yes, had one in the 1960s. Remember the box said "walks like a humanbeing"

  4. Ohhh, I didn't notice that on the box!

(laughs) Walks like a human being? Hah! Walks like a human being doing a robot walk ... maybe.
