In the Red Shadow of Mars

SWORD Shuttle Atlantis sped across the Solar System en route to the Jovian Sector. On board was stowed Task Force 1, which will carry out the final stage of the rescue-salvage mission on Io.

Passing Mars the Shuttle's Commander Bill Wotan was stunned to see what he could only describe as a UFO heading straight for them. Awestruck he raised the alarm for 'action stations' on his Shuttle. The crew braced themselves for first contact, the first ever recorded, whatever it may bring. Commander Wotan signalled a message of peace to the UFO and held his breath. Time itself seemed to inhale.

Toys used in the picture: T Space Shuttle & T UFO. No toys were harmed in the making of this story.

  1. (takes hand away from telephone) I was just about to contact the R.S.P.C.T. (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Toys ... often know simply as RESPECT!) but then I saw your disclaimer.

It is good to know that MOONBASE CENTRAL follows the practice of telling stories without blowing toys up in the process ... unlike the makers of Thunderbirds, Blakes 7, Space 1999, et al.

R.S.P.C.T. have campaigned long and hard to call a halt to such wantonly cruel and despicable acts of violence against toys. But we are in serious need of funding. We get NO government aid. All donations (in large denomination cash) welcome, and should be sent to Toad.

  2. I like the moral stance of RSPCT. Very laudable. I will make a donation of grubs and larvae just for TOAD. Toys should be kept in their boxes and remain untouched unless being photographed for this blog. Under no circumstances should old toys be allowed near children, youths, brats, anklebiters or sundry bairns. Whole collections are under threat from the sticky mitts of the next generation. Box them up before it's too late.

    The R.S.P.C.T. Anthem
courtesy of the Aretha Toys (medley):

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me

Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when
I didn't even know you, you came to me and too much you wouldn't take
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degree
It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me

    (oo) What you want
    (oo) Baby, I got
    (oo) What you need
(oo) Do you know I got it?
    (oo) All I'm askin'
(oo) Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Hey baby (just a little bit) when you get home
(just a little bit) mister (just a little bit)

    R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
    R-E-S-P-E-C-T
    Take care, TCB

  4. Grubs and larvae? Eeeeek! But the sentiment is appreciated, Hoarder (smiles).

And an anthem is just what is needed to impress itself on the minds of the general public. We have to get the message out there (and the money in here *LOL*).
