Nova Interceptors on Standby

I was intrigued by Andy B's comment on his cool Gas Cloud artwork - that the Tarheel Nova resembles the Angel Interceptor. Here they are stood together. The Angel was a Derek Meddings design wasn't it? Could they both have conceptual roots in X-planes like the Stilleto? What do you think SWORDheads?

    Yes, I do believe that the Angel Interceptor and the space glider X-plane have similarities, therefore I think it safe to say that they both have their origins in the expermental rocket research space gliders of the early NASA Space program.
