Over the years there have been loads of instances of fabulous craft appearing in TV21, Countdown, annuals and in the plethora of Anderson shows. Ive got my personal wish list, but im curious as to what you guys think as to what would have made a good toy. I'd have loved to have seen the
WOMBAT from Thunderbirds, the Howertank from the SWORD annual and the MEV from Terrahawks. But whats been a missed opportunity for you ? Send me your thoughts, along with a scan or a photo or screen grab of the ones that got away for you, and ill blog them!

That's a really great link- some amazing photos there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Woodsy.
Sorry, just seen Wotan posted it!
ReplyDeleteAndy B.
Wow, that's a beautiful link Wotan, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always loved The Crablogger but I guess it might have been too finnicky to make for a mass produced toy.

Yes, Keith's photos are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI immediately think of one missed opportunity for a toy: the moon mobile seen in Captain Scarlet episodes Lunarville 7 and Crater 101. I've always been fascinated by its unique mode of propulsion. A Dinky version of that, say, with those springy legs -- it would need to be die-cast metal to be sturdy enough for those legs to withstand punishment -- and a rear airlock hatch that opens up to reveal a space-suited astronaut inside. Wouldn't that have been something?
Nice one Richard....is it the same one/design they used in UFO episode "Survival"?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutley wonderful picture.
ReplyDeleteReshape resin SHADO Lunar Carrier and Lunar Module. Probably 1/144 scale.
eviled: yeah, it's pretty much the same, but the SHADO version doesn't bounce across the lunar surface…and that's the really imaginative and interesting part.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Crablogger (clearly inspired by Futurama II at the 1964 World's Fair) and the weirdly fishlike SHADO lunar module .
Always wanted Airfix to make a Sky One.
ReplyDeleteNever understood why Airfix never did Anderson kits (OK they did the Stingray ice-cream premium model, but that doesn't count!)
