Micronauts Alien Saga II

Antron  - far and away my favourite due to his cool colour and multitude of arms. I always liked the oval shaped blaster on the left and am trying to find some spare ones to swap for the rather silly hook and 'eyebolt'.
Repto - a slow burner for me, it wasn't until I finally found the figure itself, that I appreciated it fully. The sharp triangular head and lozenge shaped brain and the buzz saw attachment really make it for me.
Membros - great name and styling, but quite unwieldy to pose. This vintage figure is missing the thin cord for is hydroblaster to attach to his backpack.

The original Micronauts line up included a cool robot figure called Acroyear - needless to say, I never found it in the UK and it wasn't until years later that I came across one in the states.
Acroyear had a fantastic flying pack accessory consisting of two large detachable fans. He also came with large feet with steel rollers in the back and a diecast body. His armoury included a short stabbing sword and a strange white birdlike 'spywing'. Later releases showed another figure the Acroyear 2 -a sort of jet version to the prop driven Acroyear. Again, I found it impossible to get one of the original release figures, but did manage to get a Takara re-release version.

American company Palisades got the licence to re-issue the Micronauts figures in 2002 and I was delighted to be able to add one or two of the rare figures to my line up. The beauty of the new releases was differing colour schemes and extra parts.

Centaurus, one of the second wave of vintage micro aliens was reissued in three colour schemes and came with a special new respirator mask.
For the first time, Repto was now able to scratch his nose safely as the re-issue gave him detachable hands as well as a cool mace, buzz saw and laser cannon.
The sinister black Membros was blessed with a pair of powerful crushing claws along with his standard weapon array and a neat stand.
The handsome gold finish Acroyear finally got the sword he needed in the Palisades release.

Baron Karza and Force Commander along with Pharoid, Space Glider, Time Traveller and Galactic Defender all made release, but due to light sales, the third wave of re-issues never made production, so a new Antron figure was never produced. Shame.

More Micronauts to follow soon...

  2. I agree ... amazing to see!

Where does he keep all this stuff, Woodsy? My theory is he makes his wife and kids sleep in the garage .... so he's got the whole house to play in (grins).

BTW ... do you think Repto would object to helping me with cutting some pastry?

  3. Toad, Repto is a pizza slicer by trade. For pastry you need those flakey alien twins Be-Ro and Fi-Lo! hee hee. BTW My favourite is soft flapjack if your'e having a baking sesh!
