Aah! I remember these opening titles as if it were yesterday! We really were completely immersed in space and science fiction in the Sixties. Is there anything like this on TV now at all? Despite NASA's Shuttle and the International Space Station, is this a totally non-'Spaced' generation?
It's a great opening. I especially like the POV shot from the alien ship.
ReplyDelete(nods) I agree. It's still a creepy and ominous opening after all these years.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there an Aurora kit of the saucer?
And Aurora made a plastic kit of the saucer.
ReplyDeleteSorry, just noted Toad already said this. It had a simple interior with aliens, I think.
ReplyDeleteSome photos of the model kit here:

The kit came with two versions of the roof: one in the same opaque grey plastic as the rest of the body, and one in clear plastic. You could either skip building the interior and glue on the opaque roof, or you could build and paint the interior and glue on the transparent roof, or you could leave the roof unglued and detachable to expose or hide the interior at whim. (I went with the glued transparent roof.)
I had this model kit before ever seeing the tv series, and I was very disappointed to find out the crew of this spaceship weren't the good guys…
