Blog reader Nico sent me a shot of a kit he'd come across recently, another in the series of Tamiya Super Space previously shown here.
A comparatively recent kit, its motorised with flashing coloured lights. The missile mounts are reminiscent of Nike Hercules rockets. Another super rare kit from Japan. Why can't european kit makers show such flair and imagination ?
I had this kit in the later 1960s I think. The body was white plastic, not orange. There was another kit, an identical vehicle with a trailer -and no missiles.
ReplyDeleteLooking back I don't think it was that well made, and the rubber tracks soon rotted and perished.
It did have ecellent box art, though.
Whoops- just clicked on the link, see you are aware of the other one, too. These were pretty early Tamiya kits, as imported by Richard Kohnstam to the UK (they boe a gold and black sticker "RiKo".
ReplyDeleteBeautiful box art! The Japanese were truly gifted at this stuff.
