Is anyone out there.. ?

Being stuck out at Mars Base can get a little lonely at times so in order to stay in touch with everyone in the outer colonies iv'e added a Twitter link to the blog. Me, Woodstock and the Toad are all there and busily tweeting away. So if youve something to flag up, talk about or show - go Twitter!

  1. What's wrong with a good old fashioned echo round the base to keep you company? BTW/ speaking of lonely outpost workers, have you seen Moon? Yikes, I should have twittered that! I'll never learn!

  2. For those who don't know or are unsure, Twitter allows you to publish messages of up to 140 characters in length. Accounts are free, all you need is an email address, and then you create a user name and a password. No one sees your email address when you post messages ... not ever.

It's easy to use, is fast, and messages can be posted from a variety of platforms, including phones. So, you can post away while travelling on that packed bus, or during a boring lunch break.

The essential idea was to use this as an extension of the way we comment here, but with more latitude for off-topic. The precise way we use it is up to us all, but think of it as a way we could share links we like, put out requests for information, just say "hi" ... whatever. No pressure ... just fun. A way to keep in touch and get to know each other better without giving out email addresses.

Maybe it won't appeal. Perhaps it won't work. But why don't we give it a try and see?

  6. Hmmmm, seems to be working now. There are times when I simply hate the internet.
