Stingray Memorabilia Museum Lives Again

Well I can't believe it Swordheads, it's the end of the blog's second anniversary, time takes a spin and I'm staring at the pioneering Stingray Memorabilia Museum once again! Those clever boys, TerraForm1 and PaulCarson, over at the Space 1999 Eagle Forum have found it on the WayBack Machine, a sort of online graveyard!

I used to love the Stingray Museum - created by one Gordon O'Byrne, an enthusiasts' enthusiast before online collections were cool, certainly here in the UK. I'd sit open-mouthed at the breadth of Gordon's collection, knowledge and eye for a fabulous photograph. I emailed Gordon in the early days of my virtual life and he was kind enough to send an encouraging reply. His presence on the web is sorely missed [I hope he's happy and healthy wherever he is] but I'm glad his old Stingray site isn't lost forever. The Net is an astonishing thing.

  1. No question that Gordon led the way in terms on On-Line sharing of this sort of stuff. A stunning collection to and from what I heard back then a nice guy too. I remember back in the early days of Anderson Fandom and collecting Gordon was one the 'Big' STINGRAY collectors along with a dealer called Dave Griffiths, artist supreme Steve Kyte and musican and member of Geordie band The Kane Gang Dave Brewis. Great days and hats off to collectors back then in the pre-eBay days!
