Just watched the monster flick Cloverfield for the umpteenth time. Can't see it enough I'm afraid but then I'm a certified monsternut. Like many creature fans I wile away my time musing the comparative size of monsters - Just how big is Cloverfield and is it bigger than Godzilla or King Kong? And then there's lesser known creatures like the Kraken, Relic, Konga, Ymir, Reptilicus, Q, Gwangi and the Host. As many, but not all, of these beasts have destroyed New York it may be possible to use well-known landmarks like the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State to work out a basic monster scale. One for the winter methinks. Unless it's already been done?
i watched it for the second time last night and i questioned scale as well. I was under the impression that the head of the liberty statue had a viewing platfprm in the crown - yet when the head comes down on the street, its way small!
ReplyDeleteand all that shaky camera work does my head in!
Isn't the Kraken meant to be The Daddy?
ReplyDeleteGodzilla is pretty big though. Loved him in the old Japanese films...atomic breath and all!
I can remember running home from school to get in on time to watch them.
