Agent 21 Birthday Mystery 3: Tommy Buster 21

Agent 21 here. Just sipping on my Leffe beer scanning the latest FYEO dossier left by The Big Boss. It concerns one '21 Tommy Buster', the rifle I never knew I had! The first picture is from an old catalogue of TV21 ads titled "Amazing Offer Inside". Hmmmm, it was a reader offer in an undated TV21, page 18 [which is missing from my dossier!]. But what sort of offer? A competition? Was it a JR21 toy or a TV21 Agent 21 special pour moi?

A little online research has revealed that the Tommy Buster was actually a 007 toy, along with the brazenly named Jolly Seven, made in sixtie's Japan by Atom and Tada. In the UK it was marketed by Lone Star [box pictured]. More details can be found on the superb James Bond Toys site.

Head of Vintage Thunderbird Toys [http://www.thunderbirdsvintagetoys.co.uk] Steve, has pointed out more detail and superb pictures of the 21 Tommy Buster, along with a description of the TV21 paperwork that came with it, on the excellent Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Forum, which is definately worth reading in full. I wonder how many still exist? Right, I'm off to get my rifle! Agent 21 out.

PS. I can't locate the above link anymore. Seems to have disappeared. Sorry. However, a mint boxed example can be seen on Lt Green's post and picture on the fab Eagle Transporter Forum from 2009 http://www.eagletransporter.com/forum/showpost.php?p=96473&postcount=116
