MOONBASE TRANSMISSION RESUMED

Comms handover from Comdr. WOTAN to me, Cmdr.WOODSY, successfully acheived I'm pleased to say. On behalf of everyone at both Moon and Mars Bases I would like to thank WOTAN for a fabulous blogging effort over the last week. Above and beyond the call of duty but greatly appreciated! After being on my hols in the Baltic I have spent a happy half-hour catching up on the blog and admiring the brilliant imagery and storyline created by the Mighty Wotan! Three cheers and here's to a well-earned stint of RnR for a few days. Said Baltic was the North German Coast bit of it - Timmendorfer Strand, Travemunde and the Hanseatic City of Lubeck. Of particular note were the sweltering temperatures, in the mid to late 30's C most days! Being pallid Brits we simply baked like scones! Thank God for swimming pools, the Baltic Sea [aka Ostsee], Hotels with Air Conditioning [our main luxury] and large glasses of ice-cold red Alsterbier [the local beer with raspberry - delicious!]. Staying very close to old 'East' German border [aka the DDR] I often mused about the former Iron Curtain, the total ease at which I could cross old borders and in contrast the poor souls who perished trying to swim across the narrow straights between Travemunde in the West and Priwall in the East. Now No-Mans Land is full of holidaymakers and chalets. A hard-won freedom and a beautiful haunting coastline full of fabulous resorts, that I can recommend to anyone.
