Boost Your Italian this Summer

Last year blog reader Arto discovered and blogged the amazing HOVER 'Project NASA' version of the SWORD Booster Rocket. Since then at least two further examples have surfaced in Italy as well. All have the 'E & M. CONSORTI' importer's [?] label pictured above [as appeared on the 'Italian' remote controlled Hover Probe Force 3 as well]. I contacted the latest Italian seller lunigianantica about the provenence of his toys and he kindly wrote back:

"found this toys one months ago ( 2 units. The first was sold on ebay 20 days ago) this is the last one I have . I don't think this kind of toys were only from a particular chain of shops.... I bought this from a seller that closed his little little little shop ( not a toy shop but sell any kind of things!!!!) I hope this can help you and thanks for your mention!!!!!!"

Anybody know anything about the 'Consorti' label?

  1. Well, 'consorti' means something like 'partnership' so the question is who R & M may have been. Stands for the partners' last (or even first) names probably, so could be anything. Had a google throwing in 'giocattoli' (italian for toys) and still tens of thousands of hits in the proverbial haystack... Proverbial wild geese I fear.

agoic: neologistic adjective describing something that's old without being historic (similar to 'vintage' not being 'antique' yet :)

  2. Nice one Paul. So F and M were a partnership. Wonder of there label appeared on other toys as well? One to watch out for but as you say it's a toughie.

  3. Hi guys, just checked the label once again on my black logo Moon Ranger version, and it says "E. & N. CONSORTI", just to set the initials right. The text between the jester's two sticks is indeed "Giocattoli".
