Great band. I've got a music paper cutting of them somewhere in a scrapbook I did back in the early Seventies full of Medicine Head, Groundhogs, J.Geils Band and more greats. What is a Horslip? A horse lip?
Said out loud it sounds like "an undergarment worn by a lady of pleasure" (sorry :) but I think it may actually be a pun on cowslip which is some kind of wild flower, and perhaps more fitting for an all-male folk band? -- Paul
The name originated from a spoonerism on The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse which became "The Four Poxmen on The Horslypse".The band shortened the name to Horslypse and finally Horslips.
