Rather than a copy of the Dinky version, I wonder if this might have been copied from the small version of Strakers car that came with Imai kits such as the SHADO Mobile. It strikes me that would be a more readily available item to the manufacturers. it does seem like the one I got with my kit.
Had a google on the gooble and it would appear that the cartoon characters on the card are that gang. Half a dozen or so were copyrighted by one Raymond Cioni on behalf of S. Diamond Associates of Skokie IL - created 76, published Nov 76, Reg Date March 83 but sadly not retrievable from the US copyright office online. The Gooble Gang itself was a trademark of Diamond Toymakers, Division of S. Diamond Associates Inc of Skokie, IL. First used Nov 76, registered Oct 77, Expired Jul 98
Found a few more cheap toy sets of that brand too - jungle animals and such.
The car reminds me more of this, btw: http://www.odinartcollectables.com/images/Match%20box%20superfast%20Pantera%208.jpg

oh and let me try the verification word game as well: imulletr - a smart phone app that transforms the owner's hairdo into short front and sides with shoulder-length at the back. The missing e before the final r could be a wordplay on the Motorola Razr cell phone?
Hmmm ... the rear certainly has the look of it ^_^
ReplyDeleteBTW, who are The Gooble Gang?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely no idea I'm afraid!

Hmmm, yes, it does look rather like that racing car. But Spectrum Steve's idea about imai was an interesting one.
ReplyDeleteAnd LOL that hairdo application, Paul ^_^
