Taking up WOTAN's suggestion that the LP circular astronaut logo might be John Glen I have started a scout around for the original image. I'm getting close but I just can't find the photograph with the US flag positioned at the back in the same way. Can anyone help?
By looking at what you've found so far, I'd say the image on the LP boxes will have been taken during the same shooting session as where Col. Glenn is standing in front of the pale blue background. Easier to place a flag in the back (or have him take two steps sideways away from the flag) than to change the backdrop. They will have taken quite a few different shots at that session, which will have been available at the time, but not necessarily anymore now.
