Saw the film SERENITY again last night on TV. Teenage lethal weapon. Reevers. Ice cold assassin. Lots of spaceships. I remember seeing it on the big screen a few years ago. To be honest I'm still unsure about it largely because of the lead actor and the teenage killer girl. They just don't do it for me. Still, the spacecraft are great! Anyone else seen it.
I assume you know Serenity is a spin-off from the tv series Firefly? Won't make much sense otherwise!

No, didn't know that. There's no {fire)flies on you Sean!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I've come across those Reevers before in something else?
There's clearly something deeply fascinating about gymnastic 'killer' women. In space we've had said 'Serenity', Aeonflux, Trinity and the Queen of them all, Lt. Ripley.
ReplyDeleteIn horror we've had Kate Beckinsale, whose single-handedly put leather jump suits on the map.
But I suppose the cream of the crop has to be the genre-defining Cat Woman most recently miowed by Halle Berry.
Or is there someone further back?
I didn't like the series the first time around, but loved the film. It made me go back and look at the series, and I got to like it. Brilliant dialogue!
ReplyDeleteMal (talking about the ship itself): "C'mon. You ain't even seen most of it. I'll show you the rest. Try to see past what she is, and on to what she can be"
Zoe: "What's that, sir?"
Mal: "Freedom, is what."
Zoe: "No, I meant - What's THAT?"
Mal: "Oh. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here."
I think the reason you've seen those Reavers is that (I think) their uniforms were the Mobile Infantry uniforms from "Starship Troopers", re-used!
