A picture is definitely worth a thousand words here, as this fabulous shot comes from a japanese fan site and english translation is not readily available. Coolhunter Terry came across this little gem recently and it has lots of info and pictures of the U59 and u87 kits by Tamiya. Just wish i could read it, but wish even more so for these awesome toys!
Wow! Those are cool cats. That U59 is also the cover star of the latest Andersonic magazine. Its a pity that C21 never thought of a SWORD craft big enough to put other vehicles like these in - a U59 transporter? There's only really the JR21 TB2 pod that anything can fit in and they would have had to have been matchbox sized!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, yes! A SWORD transporter would have been marvellous. It would have made sense too: how else get the vehicles to where they are needed?
ReplyDeleteRegarding the box artwork for the U59, what is that green craft flying in front of the clouds? Is it Mac's Car fro Joe 90? Can't quite make it out.
I reckon that's Mac's green jat car PT. But what's the brown flying thing in the other pic? Have a look at the Wildcat link Wote's posted and check it out. Cool or what! Click on the Mecha Contest link to see more amazing Japanese biult up kits! They're spoilt for choice! PS. The translate button onscreen does an OK job for the Wildcat site.
ReplyDeleteCan't place the brown aircraft at all, Woodsy. The general style looks like the hover-jet-helicopters seen in various Gerry Anderson programs and/or comics, but I can't tie this one down.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the "translate button"? I can't find it :(
Hate to tell you, translate is on a google toolbar!
ReplyDeleteI agree - it looks like a heli-jet now you mention it.
LOL. No wonder I couldn't find it - I was looking in completely the wrong place! Thanks, Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteOK, I've seen the Japanese to English translation now. I'm pretty impressed by the result. Frankly, I've seen worse software translations of Romance and Germanic texts. Does that suggest more effort has been put into the Japanese translation software or is it some characteristic of the language itself that makes for a better translation?
ReplyDeleteWhatever, thanks for pointing me to the online translator, Woodsy.
What fascinated me on the Wildcat link was the Spectrum Saloon Car docked with what looks like a Dinky Adventure 2000 Raider Command tank!
ReplyDeleteIs it this one Kittenpurse? https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2018/05/aoshima-tiger-captain.html
DeleteWow! No, but that's fantastic, and presumably related to the one I spotted, which is definitely an SSC/Raider Command hybrid. http://home.s00.itscom.net/nekonii/uma/tank/20170901.jpg
